RACV boosts Victorian EV public charging network
Motoring association to integrate EV fast-chargers with Chargefox network as part of broad upgradeVictoria’s electric vehicle public recharging network will receive a boost over the next 18 months as the RACV upgrades its fast-chargers and connects them to the Chargefox app.
According to RACV Energy general manager Greg Edye, the motoring association will replace 24 Tritium DC chargers at seven of its public charging sites and also install six new 50kW DC fast-chargers at select Victorian RACV Clubs and Resorts.
“In addition, RACV will be upgrading 22 AC chargers (7kW to 22kW) at RACV Clubs and Resorts,” he said.
“RACV are also looking to further invest in locations which tie in RACV Club and Resort facilities to customers visiting from all parts of Victoria and will have further announcements to make on this in the coming period.”
A key element of the RACV’s program will be the chargers’ integration – including the club and resort units – into the publicly available Chargefox app, which should help streamline the service and provide up-to-date information on each facility for EV drivers.
The Chargefox network currently has more than 1800 public chargers around the country and claims more are being added at a rate of 90 per month.
