RAM Redback 2500 preview at 4X4 show

Limited-edition model goes on display in Melbourne ahead of October launch

RAM in Australia is fronting up to this weekend's National 4x4 Outdoors Show, Fishing & Boating Expo with a new limited-edition model based on its RAM 2500 model, and a new colour for the entire range.

The limited-edition model is the RAM Redback 2500, which will commence local deliveries from October. And the new colour is named Delmonico Red.

“The RAM display at the 2017 National 4x4 Outdoors Show, Fishing & Boating Expo is designed to demonstrate how the RAM range is the ideal vehicle for just about any adventure or activity on display at the show,” says Alex Stewart, General Manager of RAM in Australia.

“Whether it's towing a boat, taking a caravan out into the outback, loaded with camping gear, packed with all the gear for just about any type of fishing activity or simply looking great on the road, the RAM 2500 and 3500, along with the new RAM REDBACK 2500 limited edition truck are ready to get you there!”

For the Redback edition, the traditional chrome grille is replaced by a black 'PowerWagon' unit and the two colours available are Flame Red or Brilliant Black. Bright red tow hooks at the front resemble the fangs of the eponymous spider. The RAM legend is spread across the tailgate for the first time on any model RAM sold in Australia. Other cosmetic features include bonnet and side decals, black side steps, and Redback badging. The distributor is withholding full pricing and specification details until the official launch in October.

Another RAM 2500 truck at the show will present the new colour, Delmonico Red, and the RamBoxes cargo management facility. The weatherproof lockers line the load area and can be locked with the central locking system, or separately. Drainholes ensure water won't pool within the lockers, making them ideal for storing ice – a lot of ice – to chill up to 140 drink cans.

The lids open through 90 degrees for easier access and the lockers are internally illuminated and measure 152cm in length. According to the distributor they provide 243 litres of extra storage either side of the vehicle and can accommodate "golf clubs, helmets, toolboxes, kayak paddles, fishing rods or chainsaws".

The RamBox system also features an adjustable bed divider that is lockable for varying-sized compartments in the load bed. This divider can be stowed in the forward end of the load bed.

RAM will be on display at Stand EP250 in Hall 1 at the 2017 National 4x4 Outdoors Show, Fishing & Boating Expo, which opens today (Friday, August 18) at the Melbourne Show Grounds, Ascot Vale, and runs across the weekend.
