OK, so the Range Rover Velar ute is no Rapstang – an ambitious mish-mash between a Ford Mustang and Ranger Raptor – but this rendering of a British luxury pick-up is still radical.
There's every chance you've already seen this creation shared on Facebook, but if not have a think about this: A premium luxury dual-cab pick-up with all the luxury trimmings of the Range Rover Velar powered by any number of diesel and petrol engines. Whetting your appetite yet?
Lump in its go-anywhere ability and turbo-diesel towing capacity, plus the added bonus of a rear tray to throw a dirt bike or camping gear into, and this flight of fancy may pique your interest.
As it stands this CG concept has rugged proportions thanks to its pumped wheel guards filled with chunky mud-slinging tyres.
There's a lift-kit providing extra ground clearance while the rear sports bar is tidily integrated into the design. There are also new LED driving lights with X motifs.
While this is pure fantasy, it's fun to dream and there's still hope for those keen on a modern-day premium British ute.
Although nothing has been confirmed yet, the upcoming Land Rover Defender may get a ute spin-off with a rear bed post-2020... But don't hold your breath.
The Range Rover Velar ute was produced by an artist known as Rain Prisk, who works for video game company Ubisoft in the UK according to his social media profile.
If it became a reality, a vehicle such as the Range Rover Velar ute would rival the likes of the Mercedes-Benz X-Class (and perhaps the mooted Tesla pick-up).
This hypothetical Velar ute wouldn't be cheap – especially if the butch Rangie hay-hauler was offered with the same engine as the Velar SVR, a supercharged 5.0-litre V8 that knocks out 405kW/680Nm.
What do you think ? Would a dual-cab ute with a Range Rover badge work, or should the Defender remain the only pick-up from Land Rover?
