The Range Rover Sport SVR Ultimate edition has broken cover and it could be the final fling for the current Rangie Sport before its replacement arrives next year.
Enhanced with a number of high-end bespoke features – including unique solid glass flake paintwork – the SVR Ultimate edition will make its public debut on September 1 at the Salon Privé event at Blenheim Palace in the UK.
The Range Rover Sport SVR Ultimate edition gains exclusive exterior paint work, a body-coloured and vented carbon-fibre bonnet and gloss-black 22-inch forged alloy wheels.
Modified by Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) group and its SV Bespoke team, the Range Rover Sport SVR Ultimate edition is claimed to be “the fastest and most powerful SUV available from Land Rover”.
Despite the braggadocio behind the name, however, there are no mechanical changes over the range-topping SVR model on which it’s based.
That means it continues to be powered by a deafening 5.0-litre supercharged V8 that sends 423kW/700Nm to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic.
Its performance vitals are unchanged with a claimed top speed of 283km/h and a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 4.5 seconds.
The new British SUV flag-bearer will be made available to Land Rover Australia, but the company says it is yet to be confirmed for local release.
“No decision has been made on whether we’ll bring it here. We’ll confirm it one way or the other in a few weeks,” said a spokesman.
The Range Rover SVR is currently priced from $246,270 in Australia and if the Ultimate edition makes it here it will likely command a similar price premium to the Carbon edition, or around $30,000.
In the UK, it will be available in three exterior colours: Ligurian Black, Maya Blue Gloss and Marl Grey Gloss. The latter two are exclusive to the Ultimate edition and feature glass flake undercoats to deliver a star-like sparkle, says Land Rover.
It’s the first time the new solid glass flake paintwork has been used on the Range Rover Sport SVR.
There’s also black knurled Range Rover lettering surrounded by Fuji White edging on the bonnet and tailgate, delivering more visual impact than regular models. The white edging is also found on the side fender flare strakes.
The Range Rover Sport SVR Ultimate edition also features a Narvik Black contrasting roof, while the front wing detailing, tailgate accents, door mirror caps and front grille is also finished in the same dark shade.
Interior changes to the stove-hot Rangie include chrome SV Bespoke badges on the B-pillars with an SVO logo and ‘Bespoke - Made In England’ lettering.
Owners will also get illuminated Ultimate edition scuff plates, black anodised metal gearshift paddles and an SV Bespoke Ultimate edition commissioning plaque.
The British luxury SUV brand has sold more than 20,000 Range Rover Sport SVR models since it was launched in 2014, ensuring the top-end model will return for active duty when the new-generation models rolls around.
The iconic British SUV was first launched in 2013 and an all-new Range Rover Sport is expected to debut in 2022. We recently snapped a photo of the next-gen Range Rover Sport SVR in the UK, revealing its sleek but muscular new look.
A redesigned full-size Range Rover flagship is expected to follow the new Rangie Sport on sale and, by 2024, Range Rover will launch its first EV.
