Rapid new 2024 Aston Martin Vantage revealed

The new-generation 2024 Aston Martin Vantage has been revealed as the most powerful and capable iteration of the nameplate yet, in an attempt to abolish its old identity as the ‘entry-level’ Aston and cement it as a true Porsche 911 fighter.

Brandishing a new look inspired by the DB12 but still retaining some of that signature Vantage nuggetiness, the new model is powered by a heavily reworked version of the familiar twin-turbo 4.0-litre AMG V8 outputting 489kW/800Nm.

While those outputs are still 11kW shy of the DB12’s, the Vantage’s smaller dimensions mean it carries an 80kg weight advantage over its softer stablemate, which in turn makes it faster off the mark with a claimed 0-100km/h sprint time of just 3.5 seconds – versus 3.6sec for the DB12.

Aston says the new Vantage will then push on to a top speed of 325km/h as its force-fed V8 drives through the eight forward ratios of its revamped ZF automatic transmission.

All of this newfound performance is harnessed by an overhauled chassis set-up featuring a heap of re-engineered bracing and welds, not to mention a significantly stiffer body shell.

These improvements combine with an all-new damping set-up, electronic rear differential, electronic power steering, new-generation stability control system and multi-level adjustable traction control system, forming the new Vantage’s “state of the art” active vehicle dynamics control suite.

Bespoke Michelin Pilot Sport 5 S AML tyres feature at all four corners, wrapped around 21-inch forged wheels and measuring 275/35 up front and 325/30 at the rear.

Stopping duties are taken care of by a high-performance steel braking system as standard, comprising six-piston callipers and 400x36mm rotors at the front and four-pot rear stoppers gripping 360x36mm rotors, however, a beefier carbon-ceramic package will be available as an optional extra.

There’s no denying the Vantage’s newfound performance chops and while that is the crux of the new model’s identity, designers haven’t leant into that too heavily with a cabin design they describe as “an all-new ultra-luxury interior”.

“The new generation Vantage makes a breathtaking statement with an all-new ultra-luxury interior defined by flawless architectural lines, swathed in the finest materials and packed with state-of-the-art connected technology,” they said.

The new cabin is awash with unbroken lines and elegant touches like heated and eight-way power-adjustable ‘Haircell’ leather sports plus seats, black Micromesh headliner, Alcantara trim inlays and a next-generation 10.25-inch infotainment system.

Other standard equipment highlights include augmented reality and satellite image navigation, smartphone mirroring, launch control, adaptive cruise control, adaptive dampers, five drive modes, sports steering wheel and an 11-speaker surround sound system, just to name a few.

“Vantage makes a stand for disenfranchised devotees of breathtaking power, razor-sharp handling and the perfect balance of a finely-tuned front-engine, rear-wheel drive chassis.”

First global deliveries of the 2024 Aston Martin Vantage are expected to start in the second quarter of this year, however, Australian availability and pricing details are yet to be finalised, suggesting we probably won’t see the new model Down Under until next year.

The new 2024 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 race car was also revealed today, featuring reworked aerodynamics and suspension packages for both Pro and Am racers in a variety of GT sports car motorsport series around the world, including the FIA World Endurance Championship, IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the Fanatec GT World Challenge.

Aston Martin's new Vantage LMGT3 FIA WEC contender follows the successful Vantage GTE, which scored 52 class wins and 11 world titles between 2012 and 2023. Three new Vantage GT3s are already competing and a total of 30 are expected to be delivered to customer race teams by the end of the 2024 season.
