Australian pricing and specifications have been announced for the first Mitsubishi Express to be available Down Under in 15 years, ahead of the all-new commercial van’s release next month.
Reviving a nameplate last sold in Australia in 2005, the 2020 Mitsubishi Express is built in France alongside the Renault Trafic on which it’s based.
Set to rival vans like the top-selling Hyundai iLoad (from $39,680) and the Toyota HiAce (from $38,640), the new Mitsubishi Express will range in price from $38,490 to $44,490 plus on-road costs.
Short-wheelbase and long-wheelbase versions of just one GLX equipment grade will be available when deliveries begin on July 6, each fitted as standard with dual sliding side doors and rear barn doors.
As we’ve previously reported, however, the 2020 Mitsubishi Express van will be offered with two four-cylinder turbo-diesel options: a 103kW/340Nm 1.6-litre twin-turbo and a 125kW/380Nm 2.0-litre single-turbo.
The 1.6-litre engine comes paired to a six-speed manual transmission, while the latter is mated exclusively to a six-speed dual-clutch automatic.
Standard features include 16-inch steel wheels (with a full-size spare), three front seats with height and lumbar adjustment, retractable centre armrest, Bluetooth connectivity and plenty of storage.
Automatic variants gain a reversing camera screen integrated into the rear-view mirror, as well as auto headlights and wipers.
The new Express van will come with Mitsubishi’s standard five-year/100,000km warranty, along with a capped-price servicing program for the first three years or 45,000km, at a cost of $250 per service.
Four exterior colour options will include white, black, red and platinum grey, while a black fabric interior is standard across the range.
