Kia Australia has issued a product safety recall for almost 4000 Kia Sorento vehicles due to a software issue that may prevent their indicators from illuminating as intended.
A total of 3873 examples of the award-winning large SUV produced in 2022 – including hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions – are involved in the recall.
“If the turn indicators do not illuminate as intended, other road users would be unable to identify if the vehicle is turning. This could increase the risk of an accident, causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users,” said Kia in its recall notice at the federal government’s Vehicle Recalls website.
Owners of affected vehicles are advised to immediately contact their preferred Kia dealer to schedule an appointment to have the multi-function switch software updated, free of charge.
You can check if your vehicle identification number is included in this list of affected vehicles or contact Kia Customer Service for further details by calling 131 542 or emailing customer_service@kia.com.au.
Also called back since our last recall wrap last Wednesday are 31 examples of the 2023 Audi TT due to a front passenger airbag problem.
“The welding connection joining the airbag guide channel and the dash panel of the front passenger’s side, may not meet manufacturing specifications. As a result, the front passenger’s airbag may not deploy as intended,” said Audi in its recall notice.
“In the event of an accident, an airbag not deploying as intended could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants.”
There is no VIN list for this recall, but Audi Australia says it will contact owners of affected vehicles to arrange with their nearest authorised Audi dealership to have the work carried out free of charge.
Concerned owners of the 2023 Audi TT can contact Audi Australia customer service by calling 1800 502 834 or emailing customerassistance@audi-info.com.au.
