Ford Australia has recalled almost 3000 late-model examples of its Focus small car over concerns wiring damage within the engine bay could lead to an unexpected loss of power or engine stalling.
The recall affects 2787 Ford Focus models built between September 28, 2018 and May 22, 2019 – all part of the 2019 model year – and stems from the transmission stud which Ford says could chafe on the engine wiring loom.
In the recall notice, Ford says any damage to the wiring loom could lead to reduced engine power and cause the engine to stall, which could in turn “increase the risk of injury and death of vehicle occupants and other road users in an accident”.
The engine warning light may illuminate as a result of the issue.
Ford will contact owners, but you can click here for a VIN list of affected vehicles.
In other news, Honda Australia has recalled 36 examples of its MY2019 Honda Odyssey people-mover built between September 27, 2019 and January 10, 2020.
The recall relates to incorrect manufacturing of the rear seatbelt assembly, with the webbing sensor in the third row’s left-rear belt assembly potentially becoming inoperative.
If the vehicle sensor fails to engage during a crash, Honda says “proper restraint may not be provided to a belted occupant, increasing the risk of an injury”.
Owners of affected Honda Odysseys are being urged to contact their closest Honda dealership to arrange a free repair. Click here for a list of models.
Peugeot Australia is also recalling a further 64 examples of its MY2018-2019 Peugeot Expert van, following an alert issued earlier this month (for 25 MY19 vehicles) over a potential fire risk.
According to Peugeot’s local distributor Inchcape European Automotive, the fuel supply and return pipes under the body of affected Expert vans may become damaged over time due to relative movement between the pipes and the body guidance ribs.
If left not repaired, diesel fuel may leak from the damaged pipes onto the ground, causing a potential fire hazard.
The Peugeot Expert vans subject to the recall include those built between April 1, 2018 and July 31, 2019.
