Recall wrap: Ford Mustang hit by fuel delivery line issue
Multiple recalls for Ford models include Mustang sports car, Transit Custom van and Mustang Mach-E and E-Transit EVsFord Australia has recalled hundreds of examples of the current Ford Mustang sports car over a potential manufacturing defect.
As detailed on the federal government’s Vehicle Recalls website, 610 units examples of the Ford Mustang are impacted by the recall, all built between 2021 and 2023.
Specifically, the low-pressure fuel delivery line may not meet specifications, which could result in the vehicle encountering fuel evaporation outside the requirements of emissions regulations.
Ford says there’s no safety hazard relating to the recall and that the defect will not affect the performance of the sports car.
However, the issue does mean that affected vehicles are not compliant with Australian Design Rule 79/04 – Emissions Control for Light Vehicles.
Affected owners will be notified in writing with a request they contact an authorised Ford dealer to have their vehicle rectified, free of charge.
Ford Transit Custom
The Blue Oval brand has also recalled 1117 examples of the Ford Transit Custom van, covering all variants built between 2023 and 2024.
Ford says a software issue within the power steering control module (PCSM) could prevent the lane change warning assist (LCWA) system from operating as intended.
In the recall notice, Ford says that “as a result, there is an increased chance of a collision with another vehicle”.
The car-maker will contact affected owners in writing to organise rectification.
Ford Mustang Mach-E and E-Transit
In yet another recall involving current Ford models, 251 examples of the battery-electric Ford Mustang Mach-E and Ford E-Transit van built between 2022 and 2023 are required to return to an authorised dealership.
According to the recall notice, the charging cables fitted to the EVs are missing the required regulatory compliance mark (RCM) certification label.
Ford says that while there is no safety hazard associated with the recall, and that the defect will not affect the performance of the vehicle, the absence of the necessary labelling means that vehicles may not meet the required standards.
The charging cable in question will be replaced by Ford, free of charge.
