Recall wrap: Ford Ranger and Everest airbag fix
Blue Oval recalls 1206 utes and SUVsFord has issued a recall for its popular Ranger ute and Everest SUV over concerns the side airbags may not deploy properly.
According to a recall notice issued with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, 1206 2017-plated Ranger and Everest vehicles are fitted with side airbag modules which may contain an incorrect chemical mixture.
“This incorrect chemical mixture could cause the airbag inflator not to initiate, resulting in the side airbag not deploying in the event of a crash and increasing the risk of injury to occupants,” the manufacturer says.
“As of date of publication, there have been no reported cases in Australia.”
Ford says it will contact affected owners to arrange an inspection and rectification free of charge.
