Recall wrap: Lamborghini Huracan strikes seat belt trouble
A software glitch could deactivate the baby Bull’s low-speed seat belt reminder chime and warning lightAlmost 80 Lamborghini Huracans are being recalled by Lamborghini Australia to rectify glitchy software that could affect the driver’s seat belt reminder, potentially causing it to not activate below 20km/h.
The reminder system comprises a warning light as well as a chime to alert the driver their seat belt isn’t fastened, both of which could be rendered inactive due to the faulty software.
“This may result in the driver not being reminded to ensure their seat belt is buckled when operating the vehicle below the speed of 20 km/h,” reads the official recall notice.
“The correct system functionality is always guaranteed above this speed.”
Even so, an impact with a fast-moving vehicle or even a low-speed collision could inflict serious injury or prove fatal with a seat belt on, which is why Lamborghini is encouraging affected owners to present their vehicles for a free software upgrade at their earliest convenience.
A VIN list of the 77 affected vehicles – all produced in 2022 and 2023, and covering the Evo, STO and Tecnica variants – is attached to the recall notice on the Product Safety website.
