Lexus Australia has announced a nationwide product safety recall for almost 2000 examples of its mid-size SUV, the Lexus NX, due to software issues that might affect its driver assist functions.
Of the 1937 examples affected, all are built between 2021 and 2022, covering all variants of the model: NX 250, NX 350, NX 350h hybrid and NX 450h+ plug-in hybrid.
The Japanese luxury car-maker says the software fault could cause the Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) feature to not operate as intended.
“This may reduce the level of maintaining the vehicle’s position in the centre of a lane,” said Lexus.
If the system doesn’t operate as intended, Lexus Australia says the risk of an accident causing injury or death to occupants and other road users is increased.
Meanwhile, affected vehicles are not compliant with the vehicle standard (ADR) 90/01 – Steering System.
Affected owners will be notified and Lexus technicians will update the recognition camera software program free of charge.
At the same time, Mercedes-Benz is calling back more than 4000 vehicles including 2020-built examples of its A-Class, CLA-Class and GLB-Class.
Of the 4043 vehicles affected, Merc says a manufacturing defect could cause the fuel feed hose to chafe, potentially causing a fuel leak and subsequent fire in the engine bay.
Mercedes-Benz is encouraging affected owners to contact their local dealership in order to organise free repairs.
