The McLaren Artura supercar has been recalled to rectify a potential leak stemming from an ill-fitting fuel pipe, which could in turn spark a fire.
According to the official recall notice published this week, the low-pressure fuel pipe assembly could detach from its mounting and subsequently cause a fuel leak.
That poses the risk of a vehicle fire, which, as the notice makes clear, “could increase the risk of causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users or bystanders and/or damage property”.
The issue affects 18 examples of the Artura, all built between 2022 and 2023, which are specified according to a VIN list provided by the federal transport department.
McLaren says owners will be contacted in writing, requesting they make an appointment with an authorised dealer to have the rectification work carried out – free of charge.
The 2023 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport luxury SUVs have also been recalled this week to repair a potential manufacturing defect affecting the engine oil cooler.
In the recall notice, Jaguar Land Rover Australia said “the threaded nut securing the engine oil cooler hose may not have been tightened sufficiently” and could cause the cooler hose to detach.
“If this occurs, engine oil could leak into the engine bay and accumulate in the presence of an ignition source resulting in a vehicle fire,” the company said.
Affected owners are being urged to contact their preferred service centre for a free inspection and repair, with the list of affected vehicles available online via the transport department’s recalls website.
