Nissan Australia has announced a nationwide recall for 937 examples of its late-model Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid over concerns around its hybrid system.
Models affected include those built from 2014 to 2020 (R52 model code), with the Japanese car-maker saying improper programming of the Pathfinder’s Hybrid Powertrain Control Module (HPCM) could see the engine stall.
Owners are warned that a loss of power from the engine stalling would be accompanied by a warning light on the large SUV’s instrument cluster.
Nissan says a software update is required to fix the problem, with owners set to be notified by the manufacturer when the update becomes available.

At the same time, 1372 examples of the Nissan JUKE compact SUV are also being recalled.
Models affected include those built between 2014-2020 (F16), with Nissan saying that due to a manufacturing fault the rear seatback may not lock into place when moved into the upright position.
“In the event of an accident or hard braking, the rear seat lock may not operate correctly,” the company said in the recall notice.
“As a result, seat occupants or items in the luggage compartment may not be restrained.”

The flagship new-generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class luxury sedan launched this year is already the subject of a recall, with 257 MY21 examples of S 450 the affected.
Mercedes-Benz says a software issue means the automatic network search of the emergency call system (eCall) communication module may be deactivated.
“In this case, the automatic and manual emergency call may not be available outside of the network coverage of certain providers,” the car-maker explained, in which case it wouldn’t be possible for vehicle occupants to connect with emergency services.
Mercedes-Benz says an “over-the-air” software update will be done with no cost to the owner or any data usage.

Meanwhile, Ford Australia has recalled a total of 1029 examples of the Ford EcoSport over a fire risk, with models affected built between 2013-2017.
Ford says insulation under the bonnet of the small crossover may become damaged and come in contact with hot engine components resulting in an engine bay fire.

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) Australia has recalled 54 examples of its 2020-21 Land Rover Discovery (L462) because the Occupancy Detection Sensor System (ODS) may not have been installed in the front passenger seat.
As a result, there will be no warning if the passenger seat belt is not buckled when the seat is occupied, says JLR, so the driver may not be aware that the front passenger is riding unbuckled.

Italian supercar-maker Lamborghini has also recalled its Urus, with 11 examples of the SUV called back.
Both 2020 and 2021-built Lamborghini Urus models are affected, with the car-maker saying the automatic locking retractor (ALR) of the rear middle seat may not lock correctly when used with a child restraint, which may result in the child seat not being tightly secured.
