Recall wrap: Nissan ramps up Takata program

Nissan has issued recall notices for two of its passenger cars, two SUVs and the D22 Navara to replace the 'beta' airbags previously fitted to these vehicles in lieu of the highly dangerous 'alpha' airbags supplied as original equipment by Takata.

The vehicles subject to the latest recall are the D22 Navara built between 2002 and 2008 (3467 vehicles affected), J31 Maxima built between 2003 and 2008 (5660 vehicles), N16 Pulsar built from 2001 to 2005 (20,720 vehicles), T30 X-TRAIL built from 2001 to 2007 (38,352 vehicles) and the Y61 Patrol built from 2008 to 2008 (18,304 vehicles).

Nissan will contact vehicle owners by mail, email or SMS, recommending the owners arrange replacement of the beta airbags as early as possible at an authorised dealer. A VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) look-up tool on Nissan's website is available for owners to check whether their vehicle is subject to the recall notice. American Special Vehicles is recalling 853 units of the RAM 2500 and 3500 truck built between 2015 and 2018 for a heater hose that may not be securely fastened. Movement of the hose may result in abrasion of a brake line, causing a leak and reduced braking efficiency.

The vehicles were sold in Australia between January 1, 2016 and October 1, 2018. Owners will be contacted by mail to arrange for inspection and repair at the nearest servicing dealer. Further information is available by phoning 1800 649 607 or visiting the company's website.

Mercedes-Benz is recalling diesel variants of its W213 E-Class, C238 E-Class coupe and A238 E-Class convertible fitted with the OM654 four-cylinder engine. According to the importer, a diesel fuel line may have been incorrectly routed. Abrasion may result in a fuel leak. The 641 vehicles affected were sold in Australia between May 2, 2016 and December 29, 2017.

FCA Australia is recommending the 151 owners of the Alfa Romeo Stelvio sold in Australia between April 16, 2018 and November 16, 2018 contact an authorised servicing dealer to have a label on the vehicle's jack inspected and replaced if necessary. For select vehicles the label does not comply with the Trade Practices Act 1974 Consumer Protection Notice No. 1 of 2010 Consumer Product Safety standard for Vehicle Jacks. Misleading information on the label could lead to unsafe usage.
