A potential brake defect has struck more than 1650 examples of the Porsche Taycan this week as the German sports car-maker launches a nationwide recall for every Taycan EV sold Down Under since it launched in 2019.
According to Porsche Cars Australia, every variant of the Porsche Taycan sold between 2019 and 2024 has been affected by the recall – a total of 1657 units, including model codes Y1A, Y1B and Y1C – which is said to be the result of a manufacturing defect.
“Due to a manufacturing defect, the front brake hoses may be defective. This may lead to a brake fluid leak, resulting in a reduction in braking performance,” the company said in its recall notice.
A reduction in braking performance could increase the risk of an accident, causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.
Affected owners are being asked to contact their preferred Porsche Centre to arrange repair of their vehicle, free of charge.
Owners can check if their vehicle is affected by viewing the VIN list attached to the recall notice.
RAM Trucks Australia is calling back 1201 examples of the RAM 2500 pick-up truck, over software issues around the electronic stability control (ESC) system.
Affected vehicles were built between 2021 and 2022, with the Australian importer stating “a software issue with the anti-lock brake system (ABS), the electronic stability control (ESC) may fail”.
This could result in a loss of vehicle control, according to the recall notice, which could increase the risk of an accident, causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.
