More than 7000 Tesla vehicles have been recalled this week as the US car-maker issued two separate safety notices which affect both its top-selling Tesla Model 3 as well as the larger Tesla Model S.
Of that figure, the Model 3 accounts for highest number of affected vehicles, with Tesla revealing that 5143 examples of the mid-size electric sedan could encounter problems with the factory-fitted reversing camera.
Impacting cars built from 2017-2020, Tesla says the routing of the camera cable through the trunk lid could become damaged through the repeated opening of the trunk, eventually resulting in a loss of camera functionality.
At the same time, 1912 examples of 2014-2020 Tesla Model S EVs are also being called back due to a “manufacturing issue” that relates to the bonnet latch.
Tesla says the secondary bonnet latch may be located in the incorrect position, which could prevent it from engaging as designed.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) Australia has announced a nationwide recall for 256 examples of the Alfa Romeo Giulia sedan and Stelvio SUV, built from 2020-2021.
The fault is said to be the result of a manufacturing issue that could cause the fuel sensor housing in affected vehicles to crack, causing fuel to leak.
“If a fuel leak occurs, this may result in a loss of motive power while driving,” the company said. “Additionally, if the fuel comes into contact with an ignition source this may result in a vehicle fire.”

Just as the Chrysler 300 is discontinued from Australia and leaving showrooms for good, 206 examples of the American brand’s large sedan are being called back for potentially breaching noise emission standards.
According to the recall – which affects models built between 2020 and 2021 – external noise levels may exceed the requirements of Australian Design Rule 83/00.
The excess noise is said to be caused by the programming of the car’s transmission control module (TCM) which requires a software update to remedy the problem on models affected.

More than 2400 examples of the Hyundai Sonata sedan are subject to a recall, with models affected dating back to 2014.
The recall, which applies to 2014-2016 Sonata models (codename LF) relates to a software issue with the smart junction box (SJB).
According to the recall notice, the turn signal may activate in the opposite direction to what the driver intended, which would not only cause confusion but increase the risk of an accident.

A total of 204 examples of the luxury brand’s latest Mercedes-Benz C-Class (MY21) and 19 examples of the MY21 Mercedes-Benz S-Class (S 580) limousine are affected, with the car-maker saying the engine could switch off without warning and may not restart.
