The last Ford Falcon XR6 Turbo to do police highway patrol duty in Australia has sold for a record sum of $94,500 at auction.
As we reported last week, the white 2016 FG-X Ford Falcon XR6 Turbo was an active member of the NSW force between 2016 and May 2021, when it was decommissioned after an 86,353km tenure with the Surry Hills metro command.
Bidding finished at $94,500 when the online Pickles auction wrapped up last night, following a late surge in afternoon offers that doubled the sale price in the space of six hours.
The final price, which balloons to $99,250 once auction fees are added, is almost double the retail price of the Ford Falcon XR6 Turbo when it was new in 2016.

It is also notably more than all other
, with a price more comparable to the rarer 325kW XR6 Sprint, of which only 500 were manufactured. However, this Falcon’s provenance as Australia’s last active-duty highway patrol car clearly stands for something, and mirrors the increasing popularity of restoring ex-pursuit cars to their former glory.
This particular 2016 FG-X Ford Falcon XR6 Turbo, which wore the callsign CLM232 during its four-year deployment, still wears the same numberplates used on duty.

Apart from a handful of dog squad and regular operations Falcons still in use, this XR6 Turbo is believed to be the final version of Ford’s long-running large car used for police highway patrol work nationally.
The special Falcon’s auction price sets up a salivating showdown with prices of the final Holden Commodore SS police cars. Actively deployed examples are now said to be down to double-digits nationally, as police fleets are forced to opt for newer imported replacements such as the BMW 530d, Kia Stinger and Chrysler 300 SRT, which itself is now on death’s door too.
