Red Bull Racing influenced Infiniti coming soon
Infiniti to unveil an all new Formula One inspired concept car at Detroit in JanuaryA new concept car from Infiniti will reflect the prestige brand's association with F1, when it is unveiled in Detroit early next year.
The car, based on the Q50 premium sports sedan, will be revealed during the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in January.
Dubbed the “Q50 Eau Rouge,” after the corner on the Spa-Francorchamps track, Infiniti is leveraging the knowledge learned partnering with Formula One team Red Bull Racing, to develop the car.
Rumours of high-performance Infiniti models have been circulating for months and the Q50 Eau Rouge may represent the first of many from an Infiniti performance division.
Alfonso Albaisa, Infiniti’s Executive Design Director, says: “The Q50, with an abundance of technologies, provides a great basis for an extreme performance version, embodied in the design of the Q50 Eau Rouge.”
Infiniti, Nissan’s luxury brand, launched in August 2012 and has been struggling in the Australian car market since. Having sold just 255 vehicles in its first year, Infiniti announced a price cut of at least $7500 from its entire Australian model range.
Expect an official unveiling and more news as we edge closer to the January 13 start date for NAIAS in Detroit.
