RedBook in the back pocket

New online platform delivers easier access to comprehensive used values data

Redbook's new mobile site for smartphone users places accurate used car data in easy reach — on the road, at home or anywhere.

Acquiring the right information in the field has long been a problem for used car valuers or buyers at auction, but now RedBook offers up to date data that's easily accessed, thanks to recent advances in mobile phone technology. And for private buyers uncertain about the type of car they want to buy, the information's right there with them as they traipse around the car yards.

The acknowledged experts in vehicle specification and pricing can provide the same service for bikes and boats as well. The company offers two levels of service across its range of products: free to private users and a comprehensive setup for commercial users. So private owners can be better informed when it comes time to sell the car, bike or boat, and industry professionals can rely on accurate and detailed information readily available any time.

The mobile site is complemented by RedBook's redesigned website, which now offers users added functionality to carry out research before buying or selling. There's a new look to the site, offering easier navigation and querying, while other enhancements include additional specifications, optional equipment and a revised glossary of terms to help the novice user understand industry jargon.

A comparison tool can pit two or more vehicles (or bikes, boats) against each other to assist the user make the right choice. Data covers vehicles sold in Australia as far back as 1960. For those with a passion for a particular make and model of vehicle, there's a timeline facility breaking down a model's history by its milestones — as far back as its original launch. To use one example, the Ford Falcon's history can be tracked back to 1960 and is linked to relevant editorial content supplied by motoring.com.au.

Both RedBook's website and the mobile site provide users with a personal valuation certificate — a market price valuation for your car or bike, based on condition, distance travelled and any options fitted.

Further information concerning the services provided by RedBook are available at the site.
