RedBook Inspect adds security for used-car buyers and sellers

RedBook Inspect provides detailed used-car reports for use by both buyers and seller and is now available to carsales members

carsales.com.au affiliate RedBook Inspect (RBI) has launched a pre-purchase used car inspection service that is available Australia-wide. The inspection report is designed to add another layer of protection for both purchasers and sellers of used cars.

The new initiative is available to carsales.com.au members, just one more great reason to sign up today. Enabling buyers or sellers on carsales.com.au to order a mobile inspector to perform a comprehensive visual inspection on any vehicle anywhere within Australia (exclusions apply for some regional areas).

The inspections are carried out by qualified technicians and come with detailed digital reports that include a road test, photos and a CarFacts car history report.

The inspection report includes a visual inspection of the windscreen, roof, interior trims (checks are done on heating/air conditioning, horn, seat belts, locks, warning lights and more), lights, engine (using a scanning tool plugged into the engine management system to identify any fault codes), gearbox, doors, side windows, battery, spare tyre, chassis rails/underbody, tyres, differential, brake pads and exhaust.

The vehicle is also checked for cosmetic and major accident damage using as a paint depth gauge, plus a visual inspection that checks for evidence of accident, hail and flood damage. The underbody is also checked for rust and wear to the suspension.

The RedBook Inspect road test examines items such as engine noise, exhaust emissions, transmission condition and steering/suspension. The CarFacts report delivers information on things such as written-off history, stolen records and odometer rollbacks.

To arrange and purchase a RedBook Inspect report, the potential buyer or seller goes online to provide their personal details and information on the vehicle. An inspector then contacts the vehicle’s owner to arrange an inspection time, which will be followed by the report being emailed within 24 hours of the inspection.

RedBook Inspect's Barry Freeman says the inspection service is another example of carsales.com.au championing consumer concerns. “carsales.com.au has always been focused on providing a safe and secure means for buyers and sellers to transact. With interstate purchases inspections will add a layer of assurance not offered by our competitors and further enhance our overall offer,” Freeman stated.

RedBook Inspect also have additional reports available on dealer classified listings. Dealer listed vehicles for sale on carsales.com.au that meet a strict criteria during their inspection will receive a ‘carsales Approved’ report and badge.
