Automobili Pininfarina has revealed what's thought to be a near-production version of its Pininfarina Battista following exhaustive wind tunnel testing.
The latest design, that differs from earlier concepts, has a reprofiled front-end and a pair of new redesigned wing mirrors that are said to perform better at high speed.
Despite being redesigned, the Battista will now head back for wind tunnel testing before the battery-powered hypercar's body and aero are signed-off for production.
Created to become the most powerful road-legal car ever produced in Italy, Pininfarina has already announced the four motors that power each wheel will, combined, produce an incredible 1420kW and 2300Nm of torque.
That, says the car-maker, will be enough to hit 100km/h in less than 2.0 seconds and 0-300km/h in a mind-blowing 12 seconds.
Top speed, meanwhile, has been pegged at around 350km/h.
Beneath the skin, its powertrain and 120kWh lithium-ion battery has been co-developed with Rimac, sharing much with its C_Two hypercar although, according to the Croatian car-maker the Battista will only employ 40-50 per cent of Rimac's components.
When deliveries commence in 2020, Pininfarina says it will build just 150 Battistas with half going to Europe, the other the US market.
Each will be priced at around $2.26 million ($A3.3m).
When it goes on sale the Battista will mark Pininfarina's transition from design house to car-maker, with the Mahindra-owned operation already readying another three pure-electric vehicles that will be launched in the next three years.
Pininfarina says by 2025 it hopes to sell between 8000 and 10,000 cars per year.
