Volvo will unveil a facelift of its C70 model in Frankfurt this month. The upgraded model features some styling cues from the S60 concept that made its debut in Detroit earlier this year.
It's a welcome change for the second-generation C70, which was beginning to lag behind newer models in the Volvo product range, like the S80 and the XC60, to name two.
"What we have done is to carefully redesign the front and rear so they harmonise more with both today's and tomorrow's Volvo models," says Fedde Talsma, Exterior Chief Designer at Volvo.
A new colour, Flamenco Red Pearl, will be offered to buyers of the upgraded C70, which gains revised front and rear panels, but the three-piece folding steel roof is unchanged.
"The car's natural elegance has been modernised so it blends seamlessly with the most up-to-date, the most sophisticated backdrops," says Talsma.
"We have also increased the exclusiveness of the materials and trim details to enhance the atmosphere of luxury and enjoyment inside the car."
What that entails boils down to new instruments and graphics that are exclusive to the C70, plus softer leather trim for the seats.
Volvo Australia advises that the upgraded C70 is scheduled for a local launch in March next year.
