Refreshed Ford Mondeo

Ford's facelifted Mondeo medium car has made its first public debut in Russia, and will be on sale in Australia by November

As Ford Australia gears up for the Australian international motor show, with a number of big ticket products being readied for display, its new-look Mondeo medium car has made its first public debut at the Moscow motor show in Russia.

More of a facelift than a full-blown model redesign, the 2011 Ford Modeo has been bequeathed with a redesigned front bumper section, which now incorporates LED daytime running lights, a slightly narrower grille, larger frontal air intakes and a mildly modified bonnet.

The rear end now gets LED tail lights too.

Ford Australia has confirmed that the facelifted model will be coming to Australia in November but wouldn't confirm or deny the local availability of new 175kW turbocharged 2.0-litre EcoBoost engines or dual clutch Powershift auto gearboxes, both of which are being fitted to European versions of the updated vehicle.

The European arm of Ford also made mention of a new 1.6-litre EcoBoost petrol and Duratorque diesel engines in the offing.

Ford hasn't made major revisions to the interior of the updated Mondeo, but changes to the car's interior lighting (the word 'ambient' was used several times), center console and interior materials have made the cut.
