VW Australia has announced the pricing of the other half of its inbound ID.4 and ID.5 line-up, with the dual-motor ID.4 GTX starting from $69,990 plus on-road costs and the ID.5 Pro from $62,990.
The announcement follows on from the brand’s February announcement of the corresponding ID.4 Pro and ID.5 GTX’s pricing and means we now know the full composition of VW’s initial electric SUV portfolio.
As you might expect, the models detailed today perfectly match their opposing council in terms of mechanical make-up and equipment levels, with the ID.5 Pro sporting tri-zone climate control, ArtVelours microfleece upholstery, heated, powered and massaging front seats with memory function, a heated steering wheel, a 12.9-inch infotainment system, smartphone mirroring, a seven-speaker sound system, wireless phone charger, a fixed panoramic roof, 30-colour ambient lighting and auto-dimming rearview mirror.
The swoopy package rides on 19-inch wheels and adaptive suspension as standard, with full LED exterior lighting, including VW’s proprietary IQ.Light system.
As per the equivalent ID.4, drive is provided by a 210kW/545Nm electric motor and an 82kWh lithium-ion battery which, combined with the sloping roofline, provides a maximum WLTP range of up to 543km and dispatches a 0-100km/h in 6.7 seconds.
The ID.4 GTX meantime comes with all these goodies as well as a sportier body kit, 20-inch alloys, sports front seats with integrated headrests, GTX trim inserts, a Harman Kardon premium audio system and a 250kW dual-motor powertrain capable of covering up to 511km on a full charge.
Determined to inject its EVs with as much value and appeal as possible, the ID.4 GTX has been priced roughly in line with the flagship VW Tiguan 195TSI R-Line ($70,490) – it’s actually marginally cheaper while being faster from 0-100km/h (5.4s vs 5.9s).
“As the only brand that has consistently made performance SUVs available to customers across the Tiguan line-up for well over a decade, the ID.4 GTX continues that tradition by combining the SUV form of the ID.4 Pro with the performance credentials of the ID.5 GTX,” VW Passenger Vehicles product boss Arjun Nidigallu said.
All ID.4 and ID.5 variants can be DC fast-charged at up to 175kW, will accept 11kW AC charging, are covered by a five-year/unlimited-kilometre factory warranty and an eight-year/160,000km battery warranty.
