Renault’s new Australian distributor has released pricing and specification details for the all-new Renault Arkana, which has just touched down in showrooms.
Priced from $33,990 plus on-road costs, the 2021 Renault Arkana replaces the Renault Kadjar small SUV with a sleek coupe-like profile and new technology, slotting in between the smaller Renault Captur and the bigger, ageing Renault Koleos mid-size SUV.
Key rivals for the Renault Arkana include the Volkswagen T-Roc, which it matches on price at the entry level.
Two grades of Arkana are initially available in Australia – the entry Zen (from $33,990) and mid-level Intens (from $37,490).
A third variant, RS Line (from $40,990), is due to lob in January 2022 but orders are now being taken.
All three Arkana models employ a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine (115kW/262Nm) that drives the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Combined-cycle fuel consumption is rated at 6.0L/100km, while the official 0-100km/h claim is 9.1 seconds. Top speed is 205km/h. Kerb weight ranges from 1354kg to 1362kg, depending on the variant.
Standard equipment on the Renault Arkana Zen includes 17-inch two-tone alloy wheels, climate control, black leatherette upholstery, heated leather steering wheel, electric parking brake and LED headlights.
Infotainment on the base model is controlled via a 7.0-inch centre display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, matched by a 4.2-inch screen in the instrument cluster.
Meanwhile, standard safety equipment comprises a reversing camera, front, rear and side parking sensors, Easy Park Assist hands-free parking system, adaptive cruise control, tyre pressure monitoring, autonomous emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian and cyclist detection, forward collision warning, safe distance warning, lane departure warning, lane keep assist and traffic sign recognition.
There’s also six airbags on board.
The Arkana Intens variant adds larger 18-inch wheels, heated and ventilated front seats with electric adjustment, leather and suede upholstery, eight interior lighting options and three driving modes.
The infotainment suite upgrades to a 9.3-inch centre screen with native sat-nav, plus a 7.0-inch digital instrument display, while safety is extended with rear cross traffic alert, a speed limiter and an auto-hold function for the park brake.
Finally, the Arkana RS Line adds a different 18-inch wheel design, a sunroof, heated and perforated leather steering wheel, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, wireless phone charger, black leather and suede upholstery with contrasting red stitching, faux carbon-fibre interior highlights, tinted rear windows, lower door protection and front and rear skid plates.
The Arkana rests on a 2720mm wheelbase and measures 4560mm long, 1821mm wide and 1571mm high. Cargo volume is 353 litres, extending to 1268L via the split-folding rear seats.
Built in Renault’s Busan plant in South Korea, the all-new Arkana is backed by a five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty in Australia.
