Renault Australia has inadvertently addressed shortcomings with its fourth-generation Clio small car by adding a new limited-edition variant.
The Renault Clio Formula Edition is priced from $19,990 drive away and adds a host of functions including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, sat-nav, 17-inch ‘Optemic’ alloy wheels along with requisite ‘Formula Edition’ decals.
The changes incur no additional cost over the Clio Life on which the Formula Edition is based, while the infotainment upgrades are sure to improve the small car’s everyday amenity – a longstanding gripe.
As with the donor car, the Formula Edition sources power from a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine good for 88kW and 190Nm, mated to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Fuel use is claimed to average 5.6L/100km, while the baby Renault can purportedly clip the 0-100km/h ticket in 9.4 seconds.
The Renault Clio Formula Edition is on sale in Australia now. It is available in four colours: Glacier White (standard), along with Flame Red, Mercury Silver and Titanium Grey ($880 respectively).
The Formula Edition’s arrival comes months before the anticipated touchdown of an all-new, fifth-generation Clio replacement.
