Renault Megane RS 275 Trophy for $53k

On sale at the end of this month, Megane RS 275 lays on an extra 10hp for a lucky few
Renault's new halo car in the Megane range is a week away from touching down in Australia.
But just 100 units will be sold in Australia, burning a $52,990-sized hole in buyers' pockets. And Australia is one of only 20 countries in which the RS 275 Trophy will be marketed.
Key identifying elements of the new car include a Trophy legend appearing on an aerodynamically-shaped feature within the front airdam, and Trophy decals along the lower flanks. Each vehicle comes with its own build number – on the door sill protectors. The exhaust exits from a carbon-fibre tail pipe, which is provided by performance exhaust system specialist Akrapovic. Given its limited volume status, the RS 275 Trophy will be offered in two colours only: Pearl White or Liquid Yellow.
Interior appointments include leather trim and Alcantara for the Recaro seats, held together by red stitching, which is also in evidence on the rear seats and the steering wheel rim. Head rests are emblazoned with Renault Sport badging. Both the steering wheel rim and the hand brake gaiter are trimmed in Alcantara, and the gear lever is topped by a Zamac knob.
In addition to the equipment and the cosmetic detailing, the sporty hatch's appeal lies in the standard Cup chassis, limited-slip differential, an extra 10hp and the 'bark' from the titanium exhaust supplied by Akrapovic. Central to the RS 275's dynamic prowess is the 2.0-litre engine, now fettled to deliver 275hp (205kW) at 5500rpm. Peak torque – 360Nm – is available between 3000 and 5000rpm. Despite the extra urge, the RS 275's fuel consumption remains 7.5L/100km, the same figure for the RS 265 model.
"Renault Sport has always been known for its exceptional limited editions and the new Mégane R.S. 275 Trophy is a fitting addition to the range," said Justin Hocevar, Renault Australia MD.
"Created to commemorate our recent front-wheel-drive lap record of the notorious Nürburgring, the Mégane R.S. 275 Trophy brings all the expertise of Renault Sport to life in an exciting and engaging package.  The new Alcantara Recaro bucket seats provide a luxurious and striking interior while the Akrapovic exhaust system ensures the driver feels engaged with their driving experience.
"As soon as this vehicle was launched globally we saw customers wanting to place a deposit to secure one in Australia.  We've been able to secure an incredibly attractive price for such a special vehicle and I'm confident these 100 vehicles will be very popular with Renault Sport fans across Australia," Hocevar was quoted saying in a press release issued today.
