Renault Australia has announced the local arrival of the face-lifted Megane Coupé-Cabriolet (CC), priced from $38,490, which represents a price rise of $1500 from the previous model's $36,990.
Nevertheless, the updated drop-top is "one of the most affordable full-size four-seater folding hardtop convertibles available" according to Renault Australia.
The range has contracted from three models to two, the entry-level Dynamique and sports-luxury GT-Line, the latter priced at $43,990, an increase of $2000 – but line-ball with the previous range-topping Privilege model which has been deleted.
As before all models come with a power-folding metal roof that takes around 20 seconds to retract, CVT automatic transmissions and 2.0-litre petrol engines.
That Renault retains the previous model's 2.0-litre engine means it doesn't get the newer, more frugal 1.2-litre turbo-petrol unit seen in the updated Megane hatch.
Both drop-top models get the same engine and transmission, and power output remains at 103kW/195Nm and fuel use is officially 8.0L/100km.
Entry-level Dynamic models features "high quality" cloth seat upholstery while the GT-Line variant gets heated leather pews with red highlights. Both models come with dual-zone climate control, rear parking sensors, LED daytime running lights, 17-inch alloy wheels, Bluetooth streaming, plus automatic headlights and wipers.
GT-Line models add different wheels, a touch screen infotainment system with satellite navigation, R-link Integrated sports telemetry, a premium Arkamys stereo with 3D sound and keyless entry and starting.
All models come with five-year, unlimited kilometre warranty paired with a three-year fixed-price service regime and five years roadside assistance.
Justin Hocevar, Managing Director of Renault Australia, said the updated models deliver strongly in the key areas of value, standard equipment and affordability. He also noted the new Megane CC brings a new look to the table "...thanks to its adoption of the New Brand Identity, courtesy of Renault's Senior Vice-president of Corporate Design, Laurens van den Acker".
"With its sharp pricing and good looks the new Mégane Coupé-Cabriolet is sure to make a positive impression on buyers in this segment," Hocevar said.
Renault new car dealers have sold a total 63 Megane CC's to the end of August 2014 across Australia, down slightly on last year's tally for the same eight months, 69 units.
