Renault has announced limited-edition Red Bull versions of its outgoing Clio RS hot-hatch and new Megane RS coupe, both of which go on sale today (October 22).
Designed to celebrate the French brand’s victory in the Formula One Constructors’ world championship with Red Bull Racing in 2011, both models will feature a Cup chassis, 18-inch alloy wheels, contrasting red brake calipers, Recaro cloth seats, hands-free entry and the RS Monitor as standard.
Cosmetic updates will comprise ‘Star black’ metallic exterior paint and contrasting liquid yellow highlights for the F1-style front blade, door mirror caps and rear diffuser, while the roof sports a black chequered flag decal, Red Bull Racing logos adorn the sides and the interior is fitted with an individually numbered commemorative plaque.
The Clio RS Red Bull’s 18-inch black Interlagos wheels are equipped with Bridgestone RE050A tyres – the same as those fitted to Megane RS Trophy that set a new lap record at the Nürburgring’s Nordschleife in June 2011 – although there is no power increase for either model.
Just 35 of the 455 Clio RS Red Bull vehicles to be built globally will come to Australia, priced at $38,490 plus on-road costs – $2000 more than the standard Clio RS. Renault Sport will produce 522 Megane RS Red Bull models, 51 examples of which will be made available here at a price of $44,640, which is also $2000 more than the RS265 Cup, which now opens the upgraded Megane RS range at $42,640.
“We are delighted to be releasing these Renault Sport Red Bull limited-editions,” said Renault Australia Managing Director Justin Hocevar. “Renault Sport holds a strong place in the hearts of many Australians; in fact we are the third strongest country in the world for Mégane RS sales.
“Renault Sport has a proud history of releasing highly-desirable limited-editions models and we are excited to be able to offer this one in Australia.”
