Renault reveals Megane Grand Coupe sedan

Renault has released first official pictures of its all-new replacement Megane sedan that's set to be on sale later this year.

Renamed the Megane Grand Coupe, the four-door sedan joins the all-new Megane hatch and wagon set to arrive Down Under this September.

Sharing both cars' new styling, that includes its striking C-shaped LED headlamps, the sedan is also based on the Megane's larger Common Module Family (CMF) architecture and is said to offer generous levels of rear-seat space and a large boot.

Externally, the Grand Coupe also comes with a full-length panoramic glass roof that's claimed to be unique to the segment.

Inside, range-topping models also come with the 7-inch full-TFT instrument panel and large portrait-mounted 8.7-inch R-Link infotainment system.

Like the hatch, the Grand Coupe comes with autonomous emergency braking and lane departure warning.

In other markets there's the choice of two petrols and three diesels but the safe money is we'll get the same 97kW/205Nm 1.2-litre turbo four-cylinder and the more powerful 151kW/280Nm 1.6-litre turbo that the Megane hatch comes with, along with the choice of either six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch transmissions.

Made in Turkey like the Fluence sedan before it, the Grand Coupe will be sold in 20 different countries around the world and has been already confirmed for Australia.

In other markets it will replace the existing Fluence sedan that comes with a pure-electric powertrain. It's likely then, Renault will soon offer a zero-emission Grand Coupe to replace the old pure-electric sedan, but highly unlikely Renault will export that to Australia.
