Renault has recruited Mark Webber to introduce a limited edition model of the Clio RS 200.
The Aussie Formula 1 driver was on hand at Government House in Melbourne for the unveiling of the Clio RS 200 AGP, which goes on sale in April -- but supply of the car will be restricted to 30 buyers, exclusively in Australia.
"Renault has long been associated with success in Formula 1 and has been very popular at the Australian Grand Prix in particular," said Renault Australia Managing Director Justin Hocevar.
"Enthusiasm for Renault has also grown as a result of Mark Webber being powered by our Formula 1 engines over the past few seasons, and of course Renault powered Red Bull to the World Constructors' and Drivers' Championships in 2010. In 2011 Renault is powering a full 25 per cent of all entries in the Formula 1 Championship.
"I am confident the new Clio R.S. 200 Australian Grand Prix Limited Edition car will become an instant classic. Especially in Renault Sport's signature Liquid Yellow and black paint scheme and I am sure die-hard Renault Sport fans will find it hard to resist.
"We wish Mark all the best for his campaign this weekend in the Australian Grand Prix and hope that his 2011 season gets off to a strong start." Hocevar concluded.
Finished in Liquid Yellow and Black paint, a colour scheme shared with Renault's Formula 1 cars from the past, the Clio RS 200 AGP rides on gloss-black alloy wheels and features a roof spoiler.
Inside, the AGP model is kitted out with Recaro front seats, Renault Sport monitor, 'Carbone' interior trim from the Trophee model and a '2011 Formula 1 QANTAS Australian Grand Prix' plaque.
Comfort and convenience features fitted as standard comprise: leather steering wheel with yellow centre band, leather gear knob, drilled aluminium pedals, trip computer, Connection Box (Aux input & USB support) for the 80W CD AM/FM audio (MP3-compatible), Bluetooth connectivity, climate control and electric front windows with anti-pinch function and one touch control. Standard safety features include ABS/EBD, switchable stability control, six airbags, seatbelt pretensioners, auto-on/off headlights and rain-sensing wipers.
The Clio RS 200 AGP develops 147.5kW of power at 7100rpm and 215Nm of torque at 5400rpm. Combined with a kerb weight of 1281kg, the output is sufficient to push the high-performance Clio from rest to 100km/h in 6.9 seconds. Drive is taken by a close-ratio six-speed manual transmission to the front wheels and Brembo brakes haul the car back down to standstill from its estimated top speed of 225km/h.
Price for the Clio RS 200 AGP is $39,990 -- just $1000 more than the Trophee model.
