A new version of Renault’s Trafic is heading our way, with the French manufacturer recently releasing an illustration of the third-generation mid-size LCV and announcing the model will be released in Europe before the end of 2014, with local deliveries to begin in early 2015.
It’s invariably the start of a ‘drip feed’ of information in the lead-up to the new model’s launch, and at this stage Renault is remaining tight-lipped when it comes to any hard facts.
The Trafic, which sits between the light-duty Kangoo and the heavy-duty Master in Renault’s LCV range, was first released 34 years ago and globally has achieved over 1.6 million sales.
The new model represents yet another evolution of the marque’s strong LCV fleet – it bolstered its Master range with three rear-wheel drive, 4500kg GVM models late last year.
Renault has been Europe’s top-selling LCV brand since 1998.
According to the new Trafic’s designer, Kihyun Jung, the fresh styling takes the model to the next level while still maintaining the essence of Renault’s DNA.
“Its lines embody Renault’s new brand identity,” he says.
“My aim was to achieve a dynamic, assertive stance without sacrificing either the robustness or user-friendliness customers expect of their van.”
Renault Australia has confirmed we'll get a closer look at the appearance of the new model by April 2014, with Australian deliveries slated for early 2015.
We’ll bring you more information on the new Renault Trafic as it comes to hand.
