Renault teases sporty Captur Coupe
Shadowy image said to be evidence French car-maker is about to take SUV coupes mainstreamRenault has released its first teaser image of a new SUV that it will reveal at the Moscow motor show in late August.
The darkened image, posted on social media, is clearly of an SUV that will reportedly be a sportier coupe version of the small Renault Captur.
Destined for production some time in 2019, the small Captur Coupe appears to come with a refreshed face.
It's not yet known if the coupe-crossover will get distinct styling or if the concept will preview a thorough facelift or, even, an all-new second-generation version of the Captur that's due in 2019.
In any case, it will almost certainly share engines and transmissions with the standard Captur.
Choosing Russia as the launch venue for the Captur Coupe could be telling.
Renault manufactures a dedicated version of the small Euro SUV for the Russian market that has a longer wheelbase, a higher ride height and all-wheel drive.
There's a slim chance the coupe might be restricted to emerging markets but, that said, the insatiable demand for SUVs globally makes the French car-maker unlikely to restrict the Captur Coupe to Russian buyers.
