Renault Trafic Formula Edition to return

Formula 1-themed French van reprised in 2018 form

Renault Australia has announced the release of another batch of Renault Trafic Formula Edition vans following the sellout success of the 2017 version.

Limited to 125 examples, the 2018 Renault Trafic Formula Edition is available from this month in Storm Grey or Jet Black paint, and in short- or long-wheelbase forms.

There are no changes to the Trafic’s spirited twin-turbo 1.6-litre diesel engine, but differentiating the 2018 model are LED daytime running lights integrated into the front bumper.

As before, Formula Edition extras include a body-coloured front bumper, rear light surrounds and door rail, black-painted 17-inch ‘Cyclade’ alloy wheels with yellow centre caps, a unique black Renault diamond bonnet badge, yellow upper and lower grille inserts, yellow fog light surrounds, ‘Formula Edition’ side stripes and an anti-theft spare wheel holder.

Inside, there are ‘Formula Edition’ floor mats, alongside dark Java cloth upholstery, a heated driver’s seat, 7.0-inch infotainment touch-screen, chrome instrument panel surround, gloss black side air-vent surrounds, leather covered gear selector with chrome-plated trim, chrome-plated speaker surrounds, and LED ceiling lights.

Pricing for the distinctive Renault Trafic Formula Edition has been announced at $41,990 plus on-road costs for the 103kW short-wheelbase and $43,490 for the long-wheelbase -- $4000 more than the models they’re based on.

“The Renault Trafic Formula Edition was extremely well received in 2017, and so we immediately contacted the factory to obtain a second batch for 2018,” said Renault Australia LCV Product Manager, Lyndon Healey.

“Trafic has been a stellar success for Renault since its launch in 2015, with many drivers enthused by its zesty driving experience. It is well equipped, comfortable and light on fuel, ticking all the boxes for hard working tradies, couriers, and small business owners across a very broad range of enterprises.

“Renault Trafic has been growing its sales and market share over the past three years and the arrival of the Formula Edition will add even more sparkle to a well-polished diamond,” he said.
