Opel is developing a cabriolet version of its Adam city-hatch, according to Autocar, and this is what Carparazzi thinks it will look like.
Like its most direct rival in the Fiat 500C (priced from $25,990 in Australia), the Adam Cabrio is expected to feature a ‘sardine tin’ style retractable fabric roof, but is otherwise identical to the pint-size Adam hard-top.
The latter is yet to be confirmed for release Down Under, where Opel Australia will next week launch high-performance OPC versions of the Corsa, Astra and Insignia models with which the German brand was launched in October.
It’s believed the Adam’s relatively high price and complex customisation options list is making establishing a business case difficult in Australia, but if green-lighted for local sales the Adam Cabrio would be a spiritual successor for Holden’s Corsa-based Tigra TwinTop, which was sold here between 2005 and 2007.
Opel is also developing a larger drop-top to belatedly replace the Astra Convertible (last sold here in 2005). Known as the Cascada, it and the Barina-based Mokka city-crossover are both also under consideration for local release.
