Porsche has detailed its most powerful Cayenne yet – a plug-in hybrid flagship that’s claimed to hit 100km/h in less than four seconds.
The Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid packs 500kW of power and 900Nm of torque thanks to its combination of a 404kW 4.0-litre twin-turbo petrol V8 and a 100kW/400Nm electric motor integrated within the Cayenne’s eight-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission.
The electrified powertrain is claimed to hit 100km/h in just 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 295km/h – making it one of the world’s quickest and fastest SUVs — along with a pure electric driving range of up to 40km at speeds of up to 135km/h.
On sale now ahead of its Australian launch in December, the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid is priced at $288,000 plus on-road costs — $46,400 more than the third-generation Cayenne Turbo, which it ups by 96kW/130Nm.
The ballistic PHEV powertrain is also available in ‘coupe’ form, with the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid Coupe priced at $292,700 (before ORCs).
Standard equipment for the SUV includes high-performance ceramic brakes, 21-inch alloy wheels, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) rear-axle differential lock and Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) electric roll stabilisation system.
Coupe variants gain larger 22-inch RS Spyder Design wheels and can be optioned with a carbon roof instead of the stock panoramic sunroof.
Aussie models will come standard with camera-based pedestrian detection, lane change assist, front seat ventilation, a panoramic sunroof, privacy glass, ambient lighting, LED headlights and front/rear Park Assist.
Further standard features include real-time traffic information, voice control, cruise control and access to Porsche Connect services, allowing owners to search for public charging stations and control air-conditioning via the Porsche Connect app even when the ignition is off.
A range of optional packages will include things like adaptive cruise control, LED matrix beam headlights, head-up display, lane keeping assist and Night Vision with thermal imaging camera.
