When we last reported on the Rezvani Tank in 2018, it was variously described as having 'Star Trek exterior visuals' and 'more red leather than Eddie Murphy’s getup in his Delirious comedy special'.
Now an updated version of the hard-core 4x4 off-road wannabe military vehicle – based on the Jeep Wrangler – has broken cover. And it costs just $US349,000 ($A516,000)...
Propelled by a more potent supercharged V8 and swapping out its dated JK underpinnings for the new JL Jeep Wrangler platform, the new off-road 4WD almost beggars belief.
Top-spec Rezvani Tank X models ditch their Dodge Hellcat-sourced supercharged V8 for the one in the incendiary Dodge Demon. The 6.2-litre blown bent eight bangs out 1000hp, or 745kW, and generates a sinister supercharged hiss at the revs build.
Generating enough twist to rip an unprepared diff apart, the self-proclaimed 'tactical urban vehicle' is built by US-based mod-shop Rezvani, which also modifies the Ariel Atom if you're keen for racetrack thrills.
The custom-made mud-slinger can be optioned with the sort of zombie apocalypse features that doomsday preppers will adore.
How about a FLIR thermal night vision system so you can spot targets at night without them spotting you (until they hear the V8 rumble)?
Not enough? Try on the Rezvani Tank Military Edition for just $US295,000 ($A436,000). This paranoid power monger comes with bulletproof panels and windows, a blast-proof underbody, electro magnetic pulse (EMP) protection, military-spec run-flat tyres, sirens, ramming bumper, gas masks, 'blinding' lights and a smoke screen.
Suffice to say, the Rezvani Tank is not mucking around.
The cheapest Rezvani Tank available costs $US155,000 ($A229,000) and is powered by the same 3.6-litre V6 (209kW/347kW) as regular Jeep Wrangler models.
Compared to a standard JL Jeep Wrangler, which sells for between $50,000 to $70,000 in Australia, the extra $160,000 buys you the moon-buggy body panels, a 4.0-inch lift kit with Fox shocks and mud-plugging tyres to match.
There are plenty of interior customisation available too. Check out Rezvani's car configurator here.
