Daniel Ricciardo has brought his own brand of star power to the opening of a new $2 million annex at the Motor Museum of WA.
Over 200 fans were present to witness Ricciardo on hand for the event.
“It took nearly 12 months of negotiating to secure Daniel Ricciardo, but the hardest part was keeping it secret!” said Kelvin Ferris, Chairman of the museum's board of management.
“We are extremely proud to have on permanent loan Daniel Ricciardo’s first Formula 1 Red Bull racer and to host for a limited time, a replica 1886 Benz Motorwagen – one of only 100 produced by Mercedes-Benz.

“We have also secured the rights to display an 1886 Daimler motor cycle replica made of wood and a $1.2 million model car collection.”
The vehicles are part of a 75-strong contingent of notable cars now housed in the new 2000m² annex, raising the total to 200 vehicles (including motorbikes) on display throughout the premises, which also incorporates a training facility and is home to over 13,000 'motoring publications and workshop facilities'.
Private and corporate donors funded the annex, which was also subsidised in part by the museum's own fundraising efforts and a LotteryWest grant. From planning to completion took five years.
The museum is staffed by volunteers and opens every day of the week, between 10am and 4pm Monday to Friday, and up to 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
