Niche sports car specialist Rinspeed has launched its 'Le Mans 600' tuning program for the latest Porsche 997 Turbo models.
Rinspeed has re-worked the already-quick Porsche 997's 3.6-litre flat six engine to produce 441kW -- or 600hp, hence the name -- and a stratospheric 800Nm torque. The engine conversion includes two special VTG (variable turbine geometry) turbochargers, a new carbon air intake ram-air system with sport air filters, improved intercoolers as well as a high performance exhaust system with metal catalytic converters.
Rinspeed says the mods make the Le Mans 600 one of the fastest street legal sports cars. The sprint from 0-100km/h takes just 3.3 seconds, and the 200 km/h mark is reached in 10.9 seconds. Top speed is at 343km/h.
The Le Mans 600 features adjustable suspension which is based on the original PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) damper system, developed in cooperation with Bilstein. The braking system uses eight-piston aluminum calipers for the 380mm x 34mm front discs, and six-piston calipers with 360mm x 32mm at the rear.
The Le Mans 600 rides on Rinspeed 20-inch aluminum wheels with 245/30-20 rubber at the front and 325/25-20 for the rear.
Rinspeed's bodykit includes front skirt with integrated carbon splitters and bigger, re-shaped air intakes for the radiators and brakes to improve cooling. The front-end also features additional headlights with daylight driving lights.
Rinspeed says the Le Mans kit's rear skirt increases downforce in conjunction with the rear wing, which is available in a carbon finish.
