A bigger-engined Lexus GS thunders into Australian showrooms this week with the introduction of the new GS 460 V8.
The new GS gets an all-new 4.6-litre engine punching out an impressive 255kW along with 460Nm of torque -- a big gain over the outgoing GS430 that produced 208kW and 417Nm.
Improved output from the new V8 drops the zero to 100km/h acceleration from 6.1 to 5.8 seconds, yet brings fuel consumption improvements that see the new mid-size Lexus claiming an average 11.0L/100km.
The GS 460 comes with the minor cosmetic upgrades that are shared with the V6-engined GS 300 and GS 450h, including revisions to the front and rear bumpers, grille, mirrors, wheels and door handles. Inside there's a new-look steering wheel and dash, as well as brushed aluminium on the shift console.
The revised GS lineup sees significant RRP pricing adjustments, some up, some down, with the increases tending to be offset by the inclusion of adaptive variable suspension, premium leather trim and upgraded suspension electronics on the entry GS 300 Sports.
This model, at $96,900, is thus priced slightly higher than its $95,124 predecessor, while the GS 300 Sports Luxury, at $105,900, is a substantial $6,624 cheaper than the outgoing model.
The hybrid GS 450h hikes from $121,964 to $124,900, while the new GS 460 drops to $134,900 from the $137,424 asked for the previous top-shelf GS V8.
