Rock and Roller: Rolls-Royce reveal Wraith 'Inspired by Music'
Luxury car-maker celebrates its rock history with 1300W, 18-speaker sound system. Not known if volume goes up to 11Rolls-Royce has revealed a Wraith coupe inspired by the British luxury car-maker's long links to rock and roll music that can be traced all the way back to Elvis Presley.
Called 'Inspired by Music', the special-edition boasts an audio system that was created from scratch by what Rolls-Royce describes as the world’s best automotive audio engineers.
Taking two years to develop, the new system is perfectly matched to the Wraith’s interior. The result is a 1300-Watt sound system with two powerful bass speakers, seven tweeters and seven mid-range speakers plus two ‘exciter’ speakers. To help ensure the sound inside the cabin is always perfect there’s embedded microphones that constantly monitor ambient and exterior noise and adjusts the volume accordingly.
As well as Elvis, some of the former rock and roll legends that have owned Rolls-Royces include John Lennon and Keith Moon from The Who. Lennon was famous for giving his 65’ Phantom V psychedelic paint job while Moon, rock legend has it, ended up driving his Rolls into a pool.
The 'Inspired by Music' special-edition is the last of three cars made by Rolls-Royce’s bespoke department. The first was inspired by film, the second fashion.
