Rosella, the iconic Aussie tomato sauce brand, will celebrate its 120th birthday tomorrow (Wednesday, Nov 18) with the unveiling a restored Model T delivery van.
The celebrations will take place at the company’s original factory, just around the corner from motoring.com.au’s headquarters in Cremorne (Richmond) in Melbourne’s inner south-east
Long-time residents of suburban Melbourne will remember the delicious aromas that wafted through train carriages crossing the Yarra River as they passed the Rosella factory until its closure in the early 1980s.
Today, the buildings are still there, as is the iconic Rosella signage, but the days of manufacturing at the location are well over.
So, like Melbourne's famous Skipping Girl vinegar sign, the Rosella factory is not forgotten. And to celebrate the company’s 120th anniversary a special event featuring the Model T Ford which was once used to deliver Rosella products will take place at the Cherry Tree Hotel in Cremorne adjacent to the old factory tomorrow at noon.
The event will be attended by celebrity chef Shane Delia, who will be there to assist Rosella chairman Dan Presser in the unveiling of the Model T Ford.
If you’re a Model T or 'dead horse' fan, don’t miss it…
