The 2026 Lucid Gravity X Concept has been unveiled at Monterey Car Week, hinting a more off-road-ready version of its mid-size SUV is on the way.
Described as the EV-maker's first "trail-ready SUV", the Pebble Beach show-car sported a wider track, raised suspension and a set of stronger off-road rims wrapped in all-terrain tyres.
Beneath the skin, the Lucid gains new front and rear bash plates, underbody armour and a set of new tow hooks at each end.
Other more subtle changes compared to the Lucid Gravity Grand Touring-based 4x4 include an aerodynamically optimised roof rack, LED auxiliary lamps, and a pair of bonnet-mounted graphics featuring topological maps of both the Big Sur and Death Valley.
Although not locked in for production, the new Lucid Gravity X Concept would logically spearhead the brand's Australian launch, if the US brand dares to venture to this increasingly busy marketplace.
Currently, Lucid is expanding its limited presence in Europe with the Lucid Air limousine.
The Gravity SUV is set to land later in 2026 and it's been hotly tipped right-hand drive production will be announced later this year, ahead of a debut in the UK expected in the second half of 2026.
In its US home market, the Lucid Gravity is available with either five- or seven-seats. It comes with powerful 926-volt electrics that allow charging of its 123kWh battery at beyond 400kW.
That means more than 322km can be added in less than 11 minutes.
The top of the range Grand Touring model comes with dual-motor powertrain pumping out 617kW and 1232Nm of torque, enabling a 0-60mph (0-97km/h) dash in just 3.4 seconds.
In the US, the Lucid Gravity Touring is priced from $79,900 ($A122,750) – more than twice what it costs for the smaller, less powerful Tesla Model Y that's priced from $A58,900 Down Under.
Lucid originally opened its order books for the Air limo back in 2020 in Australia. But the Saudi-backed EV maker then refocused its efforts on its roll-out in North America.
