Rugged Toyota RAV4 concepts revealed

Off-road and sporty models for Tokyo Auto Salon showcase official aftermarket options for 2023 Toyota RAV4

Toyota has announced it will showcase three new concepts based on the 2023 Toyota RAV4 mid-size SUV at this month’s Tokyo Auto Salon.

The three models are actually the work of Toyota Industries – the Japanese car-maker’s manufacturing arm – and are set to preview official accessories and dealer-fit parts that will soon be available in various markets.

Toyota RAV4 Off-Road

Australia is yet to be confirmed for the Toyota RAV4 Adventure, RAV4 Off-Road and RAV4 Sport packages.

Full details are also still to be revealed, but the Toyota RAV4 Off-Road features a two-tone paint scheme, a roof rack, off-road wheels and tyres and extra LED lamps embedded in the front bumper.

Extra protective side sill cladding and a side-mounted tank have also been added.

The RAV4 Sport is more road focused, with a new body kit that packs in fake air intakes, body-coloured plastic wheel-arches, larger rims and black paint for the roof and mirror caps.

Toyota RAV4 Sport

Under the bonnet, all three concepts are based on the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version of the Toyota RAV4, which combines a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and two electric motors to produce around 225kW.

More details are expected at their official unveiling at the 2023 Tokyo Auto Salon that kicks off from January 13.
