Muscovites attending the Moscow International Motor Show have been privy to the first look at the Lexus LS 460 with all-wheel drive. Moscow's show is of increasing importance globally as the former Soviet republic continues to enjoy rapid economic growth and a new car market only outstripped by China.
The Lexus on display at the show features three differentials with a Torsen (torque-sensing) LSD at the centre, configured to provide 60 per cent torque to the rear and 40 per cent to the front.
Such a car is a 'no-brainer' for a place like Russia, where snow and ice are major factors in any vehicle purchasing decision, but Lexus is also considering the vehicle for sale in Australia.
"If added to the local model line-up, the introduction of LS 460 AWD would coincide with launch of the vehicle in other markets in late 2009," said Lexus chief executive, John Roca.
"LS 460 AWD would add another model option for Lexus LS purchasers and provide us with a competitive offering to other all-wheel drive luxury sedans in LS 460's segment."
