Hyundai Australia has introduced a range of seriously impressive discounts for both its 2023 Hyundai IONIQ 6 and 2023/2024 Hyundai Kona Electric that amount to a saving of up to $20,000 off the price of the brand’s EVs.
Available now, the discounts apply to both in-stock and demonstrator versions of the Hyundai IONIQ 6 and see $15,000 slashed off the Techniq trim and an incredible $20,000 knocked off the Epiq – but there’s a catch.
Those hoping to bag a bargain should know that to secure the discount, you have to buy the slippery EV sedan via Hyundai Finance to release the savings as a deposit contribution.
The next fly in the ointment is availability of the Techniq variant, which was discontinued back in 2023.
In total, Hyundai says just 230 IONIQ 6s are currently available nationwide, with the cheapest model priced at $78,500 before on-road costs.
Those in the market for a Hyundai Kona Electric have more luck, as Hyundai Australia says the discounts are available on any model built before July 30, 2024, amounting to around 371 locally available cars.
However, the discounts here aren’t quite so generous, with the local importer only kicking in a $5000 deposit contribution for each of the five versions of the Kona Electric, which is priced between $54,000 and $68,000.
The disadvantage of the new discounts is buyers will be locked into the interest rate charged by Hyundai’s finance company, suggesting the savings won’t be as great compared to a traditional price cut.
As well as the big discounts, Hyundai says it is also throwing in a 22kW Autel home charger or an Evie charging voucher, each worth $1500, with every electric car purchase.
Hyundai says its latest finance offer runs until March 31, 2025, or however long stock lasts.
