You see, the car ain't all that fast, as its mechanicals are just about bog standard. However, the real fun starts when you pull over and pop the bonnet. Why? Well, behind the cabin lurks a movie projector, which beams Microsoft's latest racing game, Forza, onto the underside of the opened bonnet.
Or, for a visual experience of IMAX proportions, you can park the Speedster nose-up to a big white wall and leave the bonnet closed, projecting your Forza onto the wall like a drive-in movie -- one that actually lets you drive in. Crew members at 5 Axis (the mob that built the Speedster) have even blasted Forza onto a wall 12 metres wide and more than 18 metres away from the car.
A pair of pop-up screens also stow beneath the rear cowls, with their own sets of Xbox 360 game consoles.
The offbeat concept is the handiwork of Axis Models, a California-based company that's concocted some interesting customised cars in recent times. These included last year's flaming green tC with mobile home theatre, and a DJ-equipped xB the year before that.
Using the staid Scion xA coupe as a starting point for the Speedster, the Axis crew hacked off the roof and replaced the doors with fat reinforcement beams that are about shoulder-high to the occupants. Adding to the car's 'bling' factor are flared guards, a cut-down windscreen and cool-looking cowls behind each of the seats.
