Sebring Cabrio priced under $45K

Chrysler introduces a mid-size convertible for the price of a 'tiny tacker'

Chrysler has released pricing for the Sebring Cabrio drop-top ahead of the car's local launch next month.

We first brought you news of the latest addition to Chrysler's range here and now we can tell you that the Sebring Cabrio will undercut most of the small car-based convertibles currently on the market, with the bonus of offering full-size adult seating for four.

Available in two levels of trim, the Sebring Cabrio will be priced from $43,990 for the Touring base model or $51,490 for the Sebring Cabrio Limited.

Both grades will be fitted as standard with a 2.7-litre V6 and six-speed automatic combination. Peak power for the V6 is 137kW and maximum torque is 256Nm.

The Sebring Cabrio Touring will be fitted with a folding soft-top roof which is housed under a hard tonneau when lowered. A folding metal hard-top roof is fitted as standard to the Sebring Cabrio Limited.

Options are Premium Paint $300, 18-inch alloy wheels (Touring only) $750 and Satnav/Bluetooth hands-free connectivity $2750.

Standard features for the Sebring Cabrio Touring include ESP, ABS, Brake Assist, Traction Control, dual front airbags, front seat side-impact airbags, tyre pressure monitoring display, six-way electrically adjustable driver's seat, leather-bound steering wheel and gearshift knob, alarm, cruise control, cloth trim and 17-inch alloy wheels.

The Sebring Cabrio Limited builds on the Touring's specification with the folding metal roof in lieu of the Touring's soft-top roof, 18-inch alloy wheels, two-tone leather interior, chrome accents, heated front seats, heated/cooled front cupholders and the premium 'MyGIG' six-speaker audio unit with touch screen, DVD and 20-gig hard disk.

Chrysler's Sterling Heights plant in Michigan commenced production of the RHD Sebring Cabrio in September and the first shipment will go on sale locally next month.

Chrysler is promoting the Sebring Cabrio as the first four-seat convertible to offer either a soft-top or hard-top roof (depending on level of trim specified). By being a size larger than some of the similarly priced convertibles around, the Sebring Cabrio will also seat four adults in reasonable comfort, it's claimed by Chrysler.
