US hypercar-maker, Hennessey Performance Engineering, has announced it will show off an even faster version of its Venom GT that pumps out an incredible 1082kW and will hit more than 450km/h.
Called the Venom GT Spyder, the new convertible comes with the same 7.0-litre supercharged V8 the previous Venom has, but has had its boost wound up from 19psi to 26psi. Now capable of running E85 ethanol mix, total power increases by 155kW over the old car that set an unofficial speed record of 435km/h last year.
Weighing in at just 1244kg, the Loutus Exige-based Spyder takes just 2.4 seconds to hit 97km/h and reaches 300km/h in a mighty 10.9 seconds.
It’s not known company founder John Hennessey has any plans of setting a new world record with the more powerful Venom GT.
Hennessey, instead, says he will only make a ‘handful’ of its most powerful Venom GT ever.
As well as the Venom, Hennessey has also confirmed it will show off a 577kW Mustang and an even sillier 485kW Ford VelociRaptor ute that, thanks to its supercharged 5.0-litre V8, shrugs off its huge kerb weight by hitting 97km/h in 4.9 seconds.
